The 2009 Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics

The 2009 Europhysics Conference on High Energy Physics, a biennial conference organized by the High Energy and Particle Physics
Division of the European Physical Society will take place in Krakow from July 16 to July 22, 2009, at the Auditorium Maximum of the
Jagiellonian University.
The Conference is organized by the Henryk Niewodniczański Institute of Nuclear Physics PAN, Jagiellonian University,
AGH University of Sciences and Technology and Polish Physical Society.
The first three days (starting on Thursday, July 16) of the conference are reserved for parallel sessions and the last three
days (starting on Monday, July 20) for plenary talks. There will also be a poster session. A joint EPS- ECFA meeting will take place on Saturday afternoon, July 18.
Sunday, July 19 is reserved for excursions.
In addition, a special session for Polish teachers and public lecture are planned.
The conference is devoted to the following scientific topics:

Conference venue
The conference venue will be the Jagiellonian University Auditorium Maximum, which is a modern lecture theatre complex, and is
located close to the historical centre of the city and the Central Station. It is also close to most of the hotels and major
city attractions.

Registration and Conference fee
The registration will start on February 16, 2009 and will be closed on June 30. The on-site registration will start on
Wednesday afternoon, July 15, on the premises of the Auditorium Maximum.
The conference fee will cover conference materials, reception, coffee breaks, conference dinner, concert, web-published conference
proceedings. It will not include accommodation, lunches, and excursions.

Accommodation
The organizers have made a preliminary booking of a number of rooms in several hotels nearby the conference site. Details on "How to book" may be obtained from:

Hotel booking can be done via the Jagiellonian University Events Office. A map with the exact location of the hotels is available
on the conference website - please see 'Accommodation'. Lower-cost accommodation for younger scientists and students is
also available.
Warning: It is very difficult to find a vacant room in hotels in the city centre in summer. Therefore, we advise you to
make early booking and (obligatory) hotel deposit payment.
Travel
Krakow is located in the Central Europe. It can be reached by plane, train, bus or car.
There are direct flights to Krakow airport from several European cities. The airport is located about 15 km from the centre
of the city. It can be reached by taxi, public bus or quick railway line. Another option is to fly to Warsaw airport
and continue to Krakow via train which runs almost every hour in the mornings and late afternoons. The trip takes about 3
hours and the railway station is in the centre of the city. One could also fly to Katowice-Pyrzowice airport and take
a bus to Krakow. The trip takes about an hour.

Conference participants are requested to familiarize themselves with visa requirements well in advance of the conference. All
